Abused Doggie Finds a Forever Home

Abused Doggie Finds a Forever Home

A viral video of a rescued doggie in Romania being scared to death from a loving touch has circulated worldwide calling for more action against animal rights and promotion of adoption. With blaring cries and cringing fear, this pooch cannot even handle being touched without fear of being hurt. This doggie was experiencing a loving touch for the first time at Breasta Animal Shelter in Craiova, Romania, Fortunately, it’s not too late for this doggie and he has now found a forever home in the UK. According to Kerry Wollacott, an animal rescuer who works to help save dogs in Romania, the puppy, now named Kayne, has recovered: “When he left Breast he weighed 6kg now thanks to lots of love and care he now weighs 9.5kg! Huge thank you to a generous donator who paid most of the travel cost.” [1] Good thing this doggie has decided to give humans another chance. With some love and care, this doggie is able to bounce back to being a happy and healthy doggie, who loves being petted and played with. Watch how happy he is to be given another chance to enjoy life. What do you think about this amazing transformation? We’d love for you to share your...

Free anti-rabies vaccines in 2016

To further the goal of eliminating human rabies cases in the Philippines, The Department of Health (DOH) will provide a full course of anti-rabies vaccines in 480 Animal Bite Treatment Centers nationwide. In 2015, a total of 432,458 animal bite cases were recorded by DOH with 226 reported deaths due to rabies [1]. “None of these deaths should have occurred since we have the necessary interventions to prevent rabies such as promotion of responsible pet ownership, early consultation when bitten by animals and timely administration of vaccines.” Health Secretary Janette P. Loreto-Garin said As part of the rabies elimination campaign, a total of 33 provinces were declared “rabies-free” by DOH and Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Animal Industry. “Kung ikaw ay nakagat ng alagang hayop o hindi, huwag nnatin itong ipagsawalang bahala. Magpakonsulta agad sa pinakamalapit na Animal Bite Treatment Center upang malapatan ng tamang lunas. Maging responsible tayo sa ating sariliu at sa ating alagang hayop.” Garin concluded. – From the Department of Health [1] Rabies usually occurs due to the bite or scratch of an infected animal. It is considered a neglected disease, since it is 100% fatal but also 100% preventable. In the Philippines, rabies is considered a significant public health problem because it is responsible for the death of at least 200 Filipinos annually. (Originally Posted on...
Superhero Dog Show in Philippines

Superhero Dog Show in Philippines

Report by Rob Gillett (On Demand News) Dog owners and their pets have dressed up as their favourite superheroes as part of a fashion show promoting animal welfare in the Philippines. The doggie caped crusaders and their owners went on stage and performed simple tricks that loosely imitated their superhero persona. Dog owner, Christine Caballero, said her dog’s unique superpower was extreme loyalty: “Other people may betray you, but your dog will always be there and give you happiness.” Show organiser Beverly Ongson said: “Dogs don’t need real superpowers to be our hero. They can be a hero in their little ways, in their random ways.” The superhero fashion show aims to promote animal welfare between pet owners amid rising cases of animal cruelty being reported by the Filippino authorities.
